Del, our local guide, who has horse and buggy roots, will take us to the renowned St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market and adjacent outlet mall.   We continue by bus through picturesque countryside featuring Old Order Mennonite farms with horse-drawn ploughs and clothing and quilts hanging on the wash lines, horse and buggy traffic, small manufacturing businesses and distinctive white meeting houses (churches) with cemeteries and  buggy parking areas. We stop at a local Old Order parochial school where we visit with the teacher and students.  A highlight is a traditional hearty noon meal in a Mennonite home.  Then we spend some time in the charming village of St. Jacobs with its small shops, walking trail along the Mill Race and unique museums (admission by donation).
